While your partner holds the Groundhog anchor and installation wrench at a comfortable height. Slowly, steadily apply lateral force. Try not to push down or lift up at this time. Your partner should be applying downward pressure on auger flyte. Always look at the top of the anchor for straightness.
Continue this process until the Groundhog anchor has "bit" approx.18" in the ground. Try not to look at the base of the anchor or you may get dizzy!
At this time you are ready to insert the other installation bar. Keeping the wrench height between your shoulders and waist. Maintain equal pressure to ensure a straight anchor installation.
If the anchor starts to deflect (lean) you or your partner will have to let off pressure until straightness is resolved. You may need to reverse anchor a turn or two to allow anchor to be pushed or pulled straight.
Maintain equal pressure - slow and steady works best remembering to look at the top of the anchor for straightness. Install the anchor completely into the ground. Nut at top of anchor should be at or slightly below grade.
To install the stabilizer fit it over the shaft ( in the ground) and hammer it in until it stops. The stabilizer plate will "bottom out" on shaft.
To install sleeve nut assembly - make sure there is about 1" of threaded rod out at bottom of assembly. Thread this into the top plate of the stabilizer. Then lock down stabilizer with the 1st nut.
There should be approx. 1 1/2" between the lock nuts and your now ready to place the top plate on the sleeve nut. It is recommended at this time to determine how much blocking you may need to achieve desired height. This allows the sleeve nut to have full range of adjustability.
